Nursing students are expected to develop proactive behavior and effective conflict resolution approaches in order to obtain positive learning outcomes during vocational training. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between proactive personality characteristics of intern nursing students and conflict resolution approach.
METHODS: Method: This is a descriptive study. Data were collected by face to face interviews with interns of nursing students in May 2014.
RESULTS: Results: This is a descriptive type of research. The data were obtained by face-to-face interview with 96 intern nursing students in May 2014. Findings: 45.8% of the participants stated that they had a conflict with nurses, patients, doctors and student nurses at least once in the clinical setting. The average proactive personality scores of the nursing students were found to be moderate (54.1 ± 8.06). Proactive personality scale score averages are below 60, "confrontation" from subscales of interpersonal conflict resolution scale, in the ones above 60, the "self-disclosure" point average was found to be higher than the others, but the difference between them was not statistically significant.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between demonstrating proactive personality and conflict resolution approaches. However, students with high proactive personality characteristics were found to use "self-disclosure" approach to conflict resolution by using more communication skills. It is suggested that the teaching staff should support the proactive personality that the intern nursing students can express themselves more easily before the clinical internship and teach the rational solutions when there is a conflict.

doi: 10.5222/HEAD.2018.040  Pages 40 - 44
In case of immediate treatment, intraosseous access is preferred as an alternative approach, if access time for vein via peripheral catheter strings out. Intraosseous route is lifesaving since it provides faster access compared to peripheral catheter application. With this method, the treatment is provided by accessing intraosseous vascular network. As such in the other intravenous infusions, serious complications can be also developed even when the necessary follow-up is disregarded during treatment process, which is provided by the way of intraosseous. The relevant complications can be prevented by nursing applications such as preparation of patient before treatment, assistance to patient during treatment, and the follow-up for the complications, which can be seen after treatment. In this review, it is aimed to inform nurses, particularly the nurses who work in emergency services, on the subject of intraosseous treatment.

doi: 10.5222/HEAD.2018.051  Pages 51 - 56
Oral mucositis has been observed at different severity levels in post stem cell transplant patients. Oral mucositis worsens quality of life in post stem cell transplant patients and facilitates development of infections. Besides these, mucositis related complications extend hospital stays, increase treatment cost, narcotic agent usage to control the pain and, parenteral nutrition requirement. Moreover mucositis negatively impacts long term treatment results. There are several applications to prevent and treat oral mucositis, including but not limited to, basic oral care, low dose laser therapy (LDLT) and cryotherapy.
In the studies up to date, it has been observed that professional oral care decreases the severity and duration of oral mucositis in post stem cell transplant patients. LDLT prevents severe oral mucositis development and accelerates oral mucositis healing process. It has been identified that concomitant application of LDLT and cryotherapy in patients with oral mucositis, is more beneficial compared to LDLT application alone. This review has been written to overview oral mucositis studies in post stem cell transplant patients.
