Opinions of Students Who Have Been Studying on Assistant Nursery Program About Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Nurses

INTRODUCTION: Nowadays, positive or negative effects of the changes that we experience in medical field seems on jobs that gives service in this field. Effects of the assistant nursery, which is a new concept, on medical field will be seen by starting work of the students, who will graduate from new program.
This study conducted to determine opinions of the students who have been studying on assistant nursery program about missions and responsibilities of assistant nurses.
METHODS: This study conducted in descriptive design and with 226 student chosen from first grade students who study assistant nursery program of one public and one private medical vocational high school, without doing sample election. Research data has been collected with a form that includes student's personal and vocational information and job description of assistant nurses.
RESULTS: It has been determined that most of the participants (84.5%) chose to be an assistant nurse deliberately, however only half of them (50%) think to work as an assistant nurse after graduation.The students replied that they were absolutely involved in this items on the duties and responsibilities of the assistant; "she give the patients the oral medicines that are included in the treatment plan of the patient when nurse approve it" (37.6%), "she will notify to nurse the changes that the patient concerned is aware of in general" (36.7%), “She helps patient move and walk when nurse approve it” (%32.3). The items that the students responded "I definitely don't agree" were found to be "she empty or change the patient's urine bag" (46.9%), "She applies care that should be done after death" (42.9%) and "she lay patient's bed" (42.5%).

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Although the students who have been studying on assistant nursery program choose this job deliberately, it seems that they do not adopt some duties and responsibilities well enough about assistant nursery.

Hemşire Yardımcılığı Programında Öğrenim Gören Öğrencilerin Hemşire Yardımcısının Görev Ve Sorumlulukları Hakkındaki Görüşleri *

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Günümüzde sağlık alanında yaşanan değişimlerin bu alanda hizmet sunan meslekler üzerinde olumlu ya da olumsuz etkileri görülmektedir. Yeni bir kavram olan hemşire yardımcılığının da sağlık alanındaki etkileri, yeni açılan programdan mezun olacak öğrencilerin bu unvanı alıp alanda çalışmaya başlamaları ile görülecektir.
Bu çalışma, hemşire yardımcılığı programında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin, hemşire yardımcılarının görev ve sorunluluklarına ilişkin görüşlerini saptamak amacıyla gerçekleştirildi.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Araştırma tanımlayıcı tasarımda İstanbul ilinde eğitim veren bir kamu ve bir özel sağlık meslek lisesinin hemşire yardımcılığı programında öğrenim gören birinci sınıflardan örneklem seçimine gidilmeden ulaşılabilen toplam 226 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirildi. Araştırmanın verileri, öğrencilerin kişisel ve meslek seçimine yönelik bilgileri ve hemşire yardımcılarının iş tanımlarını içeren bir form ile toplandı.
BULGULAR: Katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğunun (%84.5) hemşire yardımcılığını isteyerek seçtiği, buna rağmen sadece yarısının (%50) mezun olduktan sonra hemşire yardımcısı olarak çalışmayı düşündüğü belirlendi. Öğrenciler, hemşire yardımcılığına ait görev ve sorumluluklarına ilişkin görüşleri konusunda hastanın tedavi planında yer alan ve hemşirenin uygun gördüğü oral ilaçları hastaya verir (%37.6), ilgilendiği hastaların genel durumunda fark ettiği değişiklikleri hemşireye bildirir (%36.7), hemşirenin uygun gördüğü durumlarda hastanın yürümesine ve hareket etmesine yardım eder (%32.3), maddelerine kesinlikle katıldıklarını ifade ettiler. Öğrencilerin "Kesinlikle Katılmıyorum" yanıtını verdikleri maddeler ise hastanın idrar torbasını boşaltır veya değiştirir (%46.9), ölüm sonrası yapılması gereken bakımları uygular (%42.9), hastanın yatağını yapar (%42.5) olarak saptandı.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Hemşire yardımcılığı programında okuyan öğrencilerin bu mesleği isteyerek seçmelerine rağmen, hemşire yardımcılığına ilişkin bazı görev ve sorumluluklarını yeterli benimsemedikleri görülmektedir.
