Congenital Osteopetrosis and Nursing Care: Case Report

Osteopetrosis is a hereditary bone disease caused by impaired osteoclasts. For this reason, this disease, which is extremely rare and difficult to diagnose, can now be treated by bone marrow transplantation. In this very rare study, 38 days old osteopetrozis cases presented with complaints of nutrition, restlessness and jaundice to the hospital were presented in the context of related resources and their innovations in nursing care were examined. Because of the occurrence of osteopetrozis and thrombocytopenia as well as the necessity of intensive and careful nursing care in the case, it was aimed to present the case within the scope of nursing care plan according to North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA-I). In this case, a multidisciplinary approach to complications is aimed at monitoring and managing the symptoms. Nurses are at the center of this multidisciplinary team in managing symptoms.

Konjenital Osteopetrozis ve Hemşirelik Bakımı: Olgu Sunumu

Osteopetrozis, bozulmuş osteoklastların neden olduğu kalıtımsal bir kemik hastalığıdır. Bu nedenle son derece seyrek ve teşhis edilmesi zor olan bu hastalık günümüzde kemik iliği transplantasyonuyla sağaltılabilmektedir. Oldukça ender görülen bu çalışmada, hastaneye beslenme problemi, huzursuzluk ve sarılık şikâyetleri ile başvuran 38 günlük osteopetrozis olgusu ilgili kaynaklar eşliğinde sunulmuş ve hemşirelik bakımındaki yenilikleri irdelenmiştir. Olguda osteopetrozis ve trombositopeni birlikte görülmesinin yanı sıra yoğun ve dikkatli hemşirelik bakımı gerektirmesi nedeniyle olgunun Kuzey Amerika Hemşirelik Tanıları Birliğine [North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International (NANDA-I)] göre, hemşirelik bakım planı kapsamında sunumu amaçlanmıştır. Bu olguda komplikasyonların multidisipliner bir yaklaşım ile gözlemlenmesi ve semptomların yönetimi amaçlanmaktadır. Hemşireler, semptomların yönetiminde bu multidisipliner ekibin merkezinde yer alır.
