The Reliability and Validity of the Premature Infant Comfort Scale’s Turkish

OBJECTIVE: This study was methodologically carried out to adapt Premature Infant Comfort Scale into Turkish.

METHODS: The sample of the study consists of 62 premature infants suitable for the sample criteria and treated and cared at neonatal intensive care unit of a private hospital in Giresun. Information form introducing the baby and Premature Infant Comfort Scale are used during the data collection process. Validity and reliability analysis are used while evaluating the research data.
RESULTS: It is defined that 59.6 % of the babies who took part in the study are girls and 40.4 % are boys and gestation age average is 33.41±1.23 weeks. It is found out that total range validity index is 0.83 by calculating the range validity ratio separately for all the items of the scale with the help of an expert opinion and none of the items are removed from the scale because all of them are positive. Item-total points’ correlation values are between 0.55-0.92 for the reliability of the scale and Cronbach Alpha value is 0.88. Explanatory factor analysis is carried out for structure validity and it is found that Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin = 0.86, Bartlett test χ2= 144.93, and p= 0.000 for the scale. As a result of the factor analysis, it is defined that 7 sub groups show a structure with 1 main factor and it explains at most 57.76% of the total variance. When the factor loads are analyzed, they are found out to be between 0.656-0.861.


CONCLUSION: Premature Infant Comfort Scale is a valid and reliable source to evaluate comfort of premature infants.

Prematüre Bebek Konfor Ölçeği’nin Türkçe Geçerlik ve Güvenirliği

AMAÇ: Bu çalışma “Prematüre Bebek Konfor Ölçeği’nin (PBKÖ)” Türkçeye uyarlanması amacıyla metodolojik olarak yapılmıştır.

YÖNTEMLER: Araştırmanın örneklemini; Giresun’da özel bir hastanenin Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi’nde tedavi ve bakım alan, seçim kriterlerine uyan 62 prematüre bebek oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın veri toplama sürecinde prematüre bebeği tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve Prematüre Bebek Konfor Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin değerlendirilmesinde geçerlik ve güvenirlik analizleri kullanılmıştır.
BULGULAR: Araştırmada yer alan prematüre bebeklerin %59.6’sı kız, %40.4’ünün erkek olduğu, gestasyon yaş ortalamasının 33.41±1.23 hafta olduğu belirlenmiştir. Uzman görüşü doğrultusunda ölçeğin Tüm maddeler için ayrı ayrı kapsam geçerlilik oranı hesaplanarak taoplam Kapsam geçerlik indeksinin 0.83 olduğu bulunmuş ve her maddenin pozitif olması nedeniyle hiç bir madde ölçekten çıkartılmamıştır. Güvenirliliği için madde-toplam puan korelasyon değerleri = 0.55-0.92, Cronbach Alpha değeri= 0.88’dır. Yapı geçerliliği için açıklayıcı faktör analizi yapıldı, ölçeğin Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin= 0.86, Bartlett test χ2= 144.93; p= 0.000 olduğu ve yapılan faktör analizi sonucunda; 7 alt grubun yapısal olarak tek faktörlü bir yapı gösterdiği ve toplam varyansın en çok %57.76’sini açıklayabildiği bulunmuştur. Faktör yükleri incelendiğinde en düşük faktör yükünün 0,656-0,861 olduğu saptanmıştır.
SONUÇ: Prematüre Bebek Konfor Ölçeği pretermatüre bebeklerde konforun değerlendirilmesinde geçerli ve güvenilir bir araçtır.
