Nursing Students’ Attitudes Toward Organ Donation and Affecting Factors

INTRODUCTION: It is to determine the factors affecting and attitudes of nursing students about organ transplantation.
METHODS: This study is descriptive. The universe of the study consists of a total of 755 nursing students who study at an university. The sample consisted of 607 students who agreed to participate in the study. The data were obtained using the personal information and the "Organ Donation Attitude Scale". Data collection tools were applied to students in classrooms. Data were obtained by number, percentage, average, non-parametric analyzes and logistic regression analysis.
RESULTS: The average age of the students who participated in the study was 20.80±1.68. The positive attitudes corerelated to organ donation of the students was found as 95.13±1.88 and the negative attitude score was found to be 59.31±1.94. According to the logistic regression analysis performed, It was found that the student's organ donation increased 6.07 times higher than negative ones with low negative attitude OR: 6.07: (%95 CI: 3.58-10.30); 3.60 times by the family with organ transplants OR: 3.60: (%95 CI: 1.22-10.58); 2.31 times higher than those with high positive attitudes OR: 2.31: (%95 CI: 1.16-4.60); 1.87 times by female gender OR: 1.87: (%95 CI: 1.07-3.27); 0.38 times by trust in knowledge of health care workers OR: 0.38: (%95 CI: 0.22-0.68); 0.21 times knowledge of organ donation OR: 0.21: (%95 CI: 0.12-0.38).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The current study found that students had a higher positive attitude towards organ donation but very few were determined to have organ donation. It was determined that the organ donation had the most effect on the donation.

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Organ Bağışı Hakkındaki Tutumları ve Etkileyen Faktörler

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin organ nakli hakkındaki tutumları ve etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesidir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Tanımlayıcı tipte olan araştırmanın evrenini, bir üniversitenin hemşirelik bölümünde okuyan toplam 755 öğrenci, örneklemi ise çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 607 öğrenci oluşturdu. Veriler, kişisel bilgi formu ve “Organ Bağışı Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak elde edildi. Veri toplama araçları, öğrencilere dersliklerde uygulandı. Veriler, sayı, ortalama, yüzde, non-parametrik analizler ve lojistik regresyon analizi ile elde edildi.
BULGULAR: Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20.80±1.68 idi. Öğrencilerin organ bağışı ile ilişkili pozitif tutum skoru 95.13±1.88, negatif tutum skoru 59.31±1.94 olarak belirlendi. Bazı değişkenlerle olan lojistik regresyon analizine göre öğrencinin organ bağışı konusunda isteğini; negatif tutumu düşük olan 6.07 kat OO: 6.07: (%95 GA: 3.58-10.30); ailede organ nakli olan birey varlığı 3.60 kat OO: 3.60: (%95 GA: 1.22-10.58); pozitif tutumu yüksek olan 2.31 kat OO: 2.31: (%95 GA: 1.16-4.60); kadın cinsiyeti 1.87 kat OO: 1.86: (%95 GA: 1.07-3.27; sağlık çalışanı bilgisine güvenin 0.38 kat OO: 0.38: (%95 GA: 0.22-0.68); organ bağışı bilgisinin 0.21 kat OO: 0.21: (%95 GA: 0.12-0.38) artırdığı bulundu.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Çalışmada öğrencilerin organ bağışı konusunda pozitif tutumlarının yüksek olduğu ancak çok azının organ bağışında bulunma isteğinin olduğu belirlendi. Organ bağışı isteğini en fazla tutumun etkilediği belirlendi.
