A danger for care quality and patient safety in nursing: Presenteeism

Presenteeism, because it is a concept which is related to nursing, there is more interest in nursing field in world literature while there is very little work in this subject in our country. The phenomenon of presenteeism in nursing is important because it affects the quality and cost of care, employee productivity and patient safety. In addition, the fact that the problems that can be solved in the long term such as nurse shortage are on the world agenda increases the importance of correctable nursing behaviors such as presenteeism in the short term. The aim of this review is to draw attention to the phenomenon of presenteeism in nursing and to explain the concept of presenteeism, its measurement, the reasons and outcomes of presenteeism behavior on the basis of international literature.

Hemşirelikte bakım kalitesi ve hasta güvenliği için bir tehlike: İşte var olamama

Presenteeizm, hemşirelikle ilişkilendirilen bir kavram olması sebebiyle dünya literatüründe hemşirelik alanında daha fazla ilgi görürken ülkemizde bu konuyla ilgili çok az çalışma bulunmaktadır. Hemşirelikte presenteeizm olgusu bakım kalitesini ve maliyetini, çalışan verimliliğini, hasta güvenliğini etkilediği için önemlidir. Ayrıca hemşire yetersizliği gibi uzun vadede çözülebilecek problemlerin dünya gündeminde olması, presenteeizm gibi kısa vadede düzeltilebilir hemşire davranışlarının önemini daha da arttırmaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu derlemenin amacı hemşirelikte presenteeizm olgusuna dikkat çekmek ve uluslararası literatür ışığında presenteeizm kavramını, presenteeizm davranışının ölçümünü, nedenlerini ve sonuçlarını açıklamaktır.
