Body Image Quality Of Life Effect Of Individuals Taking Hemodialysis Treatment

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the body image on quality of life in individuals undergoing hemodialysis (HD) treatment.
METHODS: The sample group of the study consisted of 133 individuals undergoing HD treatment. A questionnaire and the Scale of the Body Image Quality of Life Inventory (BIQLI) were used to collect data. Mann Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis test and descriptive statistics were used to assess the data. For the study, institutional permission, ethics committee approval.
RESULTS: 53 % of the individuals included in the study were male, their average age was 57.97±14.68 and 90.2% had a diagnostic duration of 1-5 years. There was a statistically significant difference between duration of diagnosis, dietary compliance, working status and the subscale “effect on behavior/attitude”, income level and the total score of the BIQLI Scale and its subscale “effect on daily life”, educational status and subscale “interaction with opposite sex” of the BIQLI Scale. No statistically significant difference was found between gender, age, marital status and existence of additional chronic disease and all the subscale and total scores of the BIQLI Scale.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: It was determined that the effect of BIQLI was an important factor in patients undergoing HD treatment.

Hemodiyaliz Tedavisi Alan Bireylerde Beden İmgesinin Yaşam Niteliğine Etkisi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu çalışma Hemodiyaliz tedavisi alan bireylerde beden imgesinin yaşam niteliğine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla planlanmıştır.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Çalışmanın örneklemi 133 birey oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında anket formu, beden imgesinin yaşam niteliğine etkisi ölçeği (BİYNE) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Mann Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis testi, normallik testleri, tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Çalışma için kurum izni, etik kurul ve bireylerden sözel onam alınmıştır.
BULGULAR: Bireylerin % 53’ü erkek, yaş ortalamaları 57.97±14.68, %90.2’si tanı süresi 2-5 yıldır. Bireylerin tanı süresi, diyete uyum, çalışma durumu ile BİYNE ölçeği “davranış üzerine etki” alt boyutu, gelir durumu ile BİYNE ölçeği toplam puan ve “günlük yaşantı üzerine etki” alt boyutu ve eğitim durumu ile “karşı cinsle etkileşime etki” alt boyutu ile aralarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Eğitim durumu ile BİYNE ölçeği karşı cinsle etkileşim alt boyutunda Cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, başka bir kronik hastalık varlığı ve eğitim durumu ile BİYNE ölçeği tüm alt boyut ve toplam puan arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır (p>0.05).
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: HD tedavisi alan bireylerde beden imgesinin yaşam niteliğine etkisinin önemli bir faktör olduğu görülmektedir.
