The Situation of the Nurse's Knowing, Adopting and Fulfilling Their Responsibilities: İzmir Sample

INTRODUCTION: OBJECTIVE: It is an important phase for nurses to know and carry out their own duties, authorities and responsibilities at gaining professional identity. There are functions of truly defined professions like determining manpower and training needs, the ability of performance evaluation, conflict solutions and so on. The aim of this study is to define the situations of their knowing, adopting and fulfilling their responsibilities in the areas they work and to rearrange the institutional duties, authorities, responsibilities.

METHODS: The sample of this descriptive study was consisted by 1202 nurses at 13 public hospitals in İzmir between the dates of 01-30 April 2013. For the aim of collecting study data, the task definition survey which included 24 different nursing areas was created by the researchers of this study in line with the law/regulations. Besides, data collection form which was developed according to literature and which includes sociodemographic properties of the nurses was used. At this research, the selection of samples was not realized but the volunteered ones to answer the questionnaire were included in. The data were gathered by the way of face- to-face interview method and percent number, variance analysis, t-test, Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for the evaluation of the data.
RESULTS: According to data which were gained from this study, it was decided that the educational backgrounds of the nurses who are the part of this research are not effective in order for their knowing, adopting and fulfilling their responsibilities; however, it was defined that certificated nurses know, adopt and fulfill their responsibilities better. At this study, the situation of the nurses’ knowing, adopting and fulfilling their responsibilities according to their working areas were assessed.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: CONCLUSION: TThe institutional duties, authorities and responsibilities of the nurses who work at 13 public hospitals in Izmir Province were rearranged.

Hemşirelerin Görevlerini Bilme, Benimseme ve Yerine Getirme Durumları: İzmir Örneği

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: AMAÇ: Giriş: Hemşirelerin görev, yetki ve sorumluluklarını bilmesi ve uygulaması, profesyonel meslek kimliğinin sağlanmasında atılacak önemli bir adımdır. Uygun şekilde oluşturulan görev tanımlarının; insan gücü ve eğitim ihtiyaçlarını belirleme, performans değerlendirmesini yapabilme, çatışmaları çözme vb. işlevleri vardır.
AMAÇ: Çalışmanın amacı hemşirelerin çalıştıkları alanlardaki görevlerini bilme, benimseme ve yerine getirme durumlarının belirlenmesi, kurumsal görev, yetki ve sorumlulukların yeniden düzenlenmesidir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: YÖNTEMLER: Tanımlayıcı tasarımda gerçekleşen bu çalışmanın örneklemini 01- 30 Nisan 2013 tarihlerinde İzmir’deki 13 kamu hastanesinde çalışan 1202 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Çalışmanın verilerini toplamak amacı ile araştırmacılar tarafından yasa/ yönetmelikler doğrultusunda geliştirilen, 24 farklı hemşirelik alanını kapsayan görev tanımı anketi oluşturulmuştur. Aynı zamanda literatüre dayalı olarak geliştirilen, hemşirelerin sosyodemografik özelliklerini içeren veri toplama formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada örneklem seçimi yapılmamış, anketi cevaplamaya gönüllü olanlar araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Veriler yüz yüze görüşme tekniği ile toplanmış ve verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı- yüzde, varyans analizi, t- testi, Kruskal Wallis ve Mann-Whitney-U testleri kullanılmıştır.
BULGULAR: Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre araştırma kapsamına alınan hemşirelerin eğitim durumlarının görevi bilme, benimseme ve yerine getirmede etkili olmadığı, sertifikalı hemşirelerin görevlerini daha çok bildiği, benimsediği ve yerine getirdiği belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada görev yerine göre hemşirelerin görevlerini bilme, benimseme ve yerine getirme durumları belirlenmiştir.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: SONUÇ: İzmir ilindeki 13 kamu hastanesinde çalışan hemşirelerin kurumsal görev, yetki ve sorumlulukları yeniden düzenlenmiştir.
