The Use of Postpartum-Specific Assessment Scales in Turkey

The detection of specific requirements during the postpartum period and the planning of proper care by the midwife and nurse are very important for preventing problems that are peculiar to this period. There is a need for assessment scales that can be used to evaluate the postpartum period where new roles and new responsibilities are assumed. In the literature, there are various scales that are valid and reliable in Turkey and used to evaluate situations like postpartum life quality, functional situation, readiness for hospital discharge, social support, spousal support, comfort, depression, parental behavior, and newborn perception. In this study, the postpartum period scales are examined in three groups: scales used in evaluating women’s health, mother-newborn communication, and motherhood perception. With this review, it is aimed to introduce the scales used during the postpartum period by presenting examples of studies conducted between the years of 2011-2015 and make suggestions about future studies.

Türkiye’de Postpartum Döneme Özgü Ölçeklerin Kullanımı

Ebe ve hemşirenin doğum sonu döneme özel gereksinimleri saptayarak, uygun bakımı planlaması bu döneme özgü sorunları önlemede çok önemlidir. Bu nedenle yeni rollerin, yeni sorumlulukların üstlenildiği doğum sonu süreci değerlendirmek için kullanılacak ölçme araçlarına yönelik bir gereksinim ortaya çıkmaktadır. Literatürde Türkiye’de geçerlik ve güvenirliği olan postpartum yaşam kalitesi, fonksiyonel durum, hastane taburculuğuna hazır oluşluk, sosyal destek, eş desteği, konfor, depresyon, ebeveynlik davranışı, yenidoğanı algılama gibi durumların değerlendirilmesi için çeşitli ölçekler yer almaktadır. Çalışmada postpartum dönemde kullanılan ölçekler; postpartum dönemde kadın sağlığının, anne-yenidoğan iletişiminin ve annelik algısının değerlendirilmesinde kullanılan ölçekler olmak üzere üç grupta incelenmiştir. Bu derleme ile postpartum dönemde kullanılan ölçeklerin 2011-2015 yılları arasında yapılan çalışmalar ile örneklendirilerek tanıtılması ve gelecekte yapılacak çalışmalar için önerilerde bulunulması amaçlanmıştır.
